German Sport University Cologne

The German Sport University Cologne, founded in 1947, combines tertiary education, high-performance sport and state-of-the-art research in sport science. It is the largest sport university in Europe and the only one of its kind in Germany. It is located in the sport park Müngersdorf, in Cologne's green belt, and it employs 870 people and educates 5,200 students from 59 countries. It leads the field in research into all areas of sport science in its 19 departments and further interdisciplinary centres, from actual health discussions in rehabilitation and prevention to biomechanical studies for sports shoes development. The German Sport University hosts one of the two WADA-accredited doping laboratories in Germany: the institute of biochemics. With the IAAF World High Jump Centre Cologne it roles an important element in the international athletic-scene.
The German Sport University has a lot of partners. For example the Olympic Training Centres, the Sport Trust Northrhine-Westfalia or the German Aerospace Centre - sport science research in space during missions. Apart from the Teachers Degree Program there are four Bachelor and seven Master Degree Programs as soon as further education master's courses of study. The plurality of the degree programs leads the students to a specific career choice and a differential occupational field.
